Are my blood glucose levels normal?

I tested my levels on a friends meter.
Fasting blood glucose: 82
1 hr after eating: 137
2 hrs after eating: 111

Are those numbers normal? Thanks!

I have a horrid diet and diabetes is very prevalent in my family, I think I may have it. How do they test for diabetes and what are the symptoms?

Question about glucose screening test?

Im 27 weeks with my third baby, I had a gestational diabetes test (no fasting) one hour oral. Well when I went to get up from waiting the hour to get my blood drawn I almost fell down and while getting my blood drawn I almost fell out of the chair. Driving home was no piece of cake either and once at home I started shaking really badly and just felt very bad (but not vomiting). The nurse ran a drop in a tester and it came back 158 on the monitor. I had GD with my first child but never experienced this before as in the shakes and almost falling down. Has anyone else experienced this or have any insight on it????
Yeah all it said on the form i signed was it may make you vomit or have blurred vision. I didnt say anything about the shakes.. would be nice if they would let us know.
joezen777- It was a glucose tolerance test they make you drink a sugar loaded drink… explain how I would have to lay off that when the lab made me drink it?

First things first, I am not a diabetic, I am not taking insulin or any other medication. My doctor has me monitoring my blood sugar with a glucose meter because I’m pregnant but I can’t take an oral glucose tolerance test (I have periodic paralysis, and glucose is a trigger). There have been a few things going on with my testing that I’m confused about.

Lately I’ve been getting pretty low post-meal results from my blood glucose meter (usually below 90). I often end up doubting the results and repeat the test, only to get a similar response. I’ve tested my meter with control solutions, so I know it’s not the meter. I’ve been told not to squeeze the tip of the finger after I prick myself, but too many times I prick myself and don’t get any/enough blood, so I sometimes squeeze the base of my finger (near the palm) instead, or I bend the finger, which gives me a little blood. Could that be throwing off the reading?

Please help. I think my 8 years old Great Dane has diabetes and I’m not sure how much it will cost to get her tested for it. Does anyone know??? Thank you very much in advance.

this really isnt a question. but its a way for me to vent and see if others out there are dealing with the same thing. im 24 and i found out im type 2 diabetic last feb. i was really sick when i found out and since have had many problems dealing with it. the doctors put me on meds and pretty much gave me the diet and exercise lecture. i didnt take them too seriously then. no one in my family is diabetic and none of my friends. i kept it to myself pretty much. but within the past several months many other health concerns came up. occasional high blood pressure and high cholesterol. i started to lose a little weight. but eventually put it back on plus a couple. within the past couple months i finally put my foot down and said i need to change my health or im going to kill myself at this rate. im not a kid anymore and i cant continue to gain weight and eat the way i do..

i am trying to hard to change my ways. but its hurting my relationship with my boyfriend. i dont have prescription coverage. so my meds and test strips are out of pocket. in order to eat better i have to spend a little more for lean meats and more veggies. even when we eat out it can be a little more expensive cause i have to make a lot of changes to the meals. places charge you extra to sub the fries or add a salad sorta thing. but my boyfriend doesnt see the entire picture. i have to do these things. he will go grocery shopping and buy hot dogs and chicken tenders and mac and cheese and wonder why i get so upset. he gets mad when im not making cookies and brownies. i cant have the junk food around me cause then i want to eat it. cant lose weight and manage blood sugar with all the wrong foods around me. he will still bring home pizzas and want to eat out all the time. it gets so frustrating. we have been dating 9 years. i love him alot. but i cant get him to understand how serious my health problems are. im not going to die if i eat an occasional slice of pizza or share a dessert. but i cant do it all the time. we have been trying to get pregnant for a year now as well. i keep having to tell him that i need to get my problems under control if we plan to have a healthy child.

A question about blood glucose testing…????

My mother-in-law just found out that she is diabetic and she was given a Blood Glucose Meter for obvious reasons. Unfortunately her doctor didn’t give her proper instructions on how often she should test her blood glucose levels. Does anyone out there know how often a diabetic person should test their glucose levels?

I have a HUGE phobia of needles but want to be tested for Diabetes. Is there any other way then having a blood test??

Thank you :)
