My dad is a diabetic. I decided to test my blood with his glucose machine. He did it twice and it worked. I tried 5 times and my blood is runny and even though I covered the test strip with it, the meter would not even calculate or register a number. The meter is obviously working since my dad did his twice and it was fine. What could be wrong with me?
I am worried that he is going to come back with positive results and then insist on treatment, but those results will be too high. Would any ethical doctor allow a patient to take a blood test for diabetes and high cholesterol detection after they just ate? He did not ask what I ate.
What to expect on Franciscans children’s hospital in Boston MA?
I might go there because I want to get my ADHD taking care of.I also want to get tested for diabetes. Please do not say go anyway else.My ex also wants to send my son there for the same things. That is why I am going there.I already talked to our doctors about this. They suggested going to a hospital for intensive treatments.I had no idea what hospital to pick so my EX picked this one for both of us.He suggested it to me.I have not decided yet but I might go to Joslin to get tested for diabetes. And skip the ADHD part.
Question:
1.What should I expect?
2.What should my son expect?
3.What should I bring for me?
4.What should I bring for him?
5.What is the age limit?
6.Is it any good?
7.Any advice?
8.Any other info?
We have a lab which wants to add in an insulin quantifying test for diabetes patients. However, doctors need to be convinced that patients should get insulin tested. So i need reasons stating insulin test uses. please help asap.
Someone please help me try to figure out what is going on. I feel so bad for my little princess. She is 5yrs old. Weights 33.5lbs, hasnt gained any weight in over a yr, not even 1/2 lb. She always has to pee, literally like 5-10 mins apart. Has many accidents. She is on zantac for acid reflux but still burps things back up and it leaves the nastiest smell in her mouth. Always has bad breath, smells like throw up, even after brushing teeth & using mouth wash. She is always saying she is tired and doesnt feel well. She also has dark circles/bags under her eyes. Has a hard time having a bowel movement most days. She can become very irritable and moody, very quickly. Has crying spells. She will say she is hungry, so I will make her something but she usually only can take a few bites before she is full. Is always thirsty. She is on pedisure 3x’s a day, to help her gain weight, white rice (to help her put weight on, dr. reccomended), she is anemic so she takes vitamins with iron, 2 a day, also is on claritan (allergy med), doctor doesnt even know if she has allergies, he told me to put her on it and see if helps at all with any of the stuff going on with her and zantac 2.5mg two times a day.
She has had blood work done on 9/16. It came back showing she was anemic, had low creatinine (CMP) was 0.40, high bun/creat ration was 37.5 , AST was 49 & ALT was 26 they were considered high, her HGB A1C was 5.6, her insulin fasting was a 4. She also had a Urnialysis done which showed the SPEC. GRAVITY low at 1.015, PH was 6.0, She also had HEMATOLOGY checked, the HCB was low at 11.5, HCT was low @ 32.0 and her MCV was low at 75.4. Her NEUTROPHIL was high at 55 and her SED RATE was 29. Her doctor told me he has going to redo her blood work in a year. (A YEAR) I dont understand why in a year. I think thats too long to wait. He didnt really have to much to say about her blood work. I am very worried about it though.
He was testing her for diabetes but said, her blood work didnt show that. He said, she was anemic and that test showed high functioning liver and high white blood cells. She just doesnt act like your normal 5 yr. old little girl. I feel like they are missing something. She is a lovable little girl and such a sweetheart. She is going to start kindergarden next year and will go all day. I want to try to find out what is going on with her before than. I know she is going to have several accidents a day at school and have the horrible bad breath. I dont want her being picked on. I know teachers arent going to believe her when she goes to the bathroom and tells them every 10 mins, she has to go to the bathroom again. She goes to kinderprep now for 2.5 hrs and there are several days when I pick her up that she has had one or two accidents while there. Her teacher is very understanding and helps my daughter feel comfortable while she is there. My daughter does tell me that kids do tell her that she has stinky throw up breath and asks her why she always has accidents. Her teacher has tried to talk to all the children and explain to them that not all children can help it and that some have no control over it. She even gives her little mints if she knows her breath isnt smelling the prettiest. (I could only pray she gets a teacher as nice and understanding as her next year)
I am looking to see if anyone has ever had anything like this or know of anyone that went through or is going through what she is going through. If so, did you find out what was wrong. What was it? I dont know where else to turn, I dont know what else to do. She is going to see a urnologist on Friday. Which she has already seen one and they put her on Ditropen, but it made her very sick to her stomach. We had to take her off of it. It wasnt helping at all, either.
I feel it is something with her liver or kidneys but dont know where to even start, to have her evulated more. Someone please help me in the right direction.
