Got blood drawn for Diabetes? Is it supposed to look like this?

I got my blood drawn for a diabetes test and, like always, they took a lot. Well, it’s been a day and there’s a prominentblack and blue mark around the area plus the vein next to it is much more visible (my veins normally aren’t because I have darker skin)
Is this normal? Should I ice it?
It’s also still painful and even itchy at times.

Yes. sometimes the area and the vein will bruise up after getting blood drawn. You could probably ice it if you want. That may help.
Sounds like the tech who drew your blood wasn’t very proficient at it, and you got bruised in the process. The black and blue mark will fade by itself. I suppose ice won’t hurt, but I doubt if it will help much. They say vitamin C is helpful in healing a bruise.
