Is there an Arm Test kit for protime/INR?
Question by sir_kristopher: Is there an Arm Test kit for protime/INR?
I have to take warfarin and get my blood checked monthly, sometimes more frequently as directed. I currently have to drive to a clinic and have them draw my blood with a needle. I’m used to it, but it’s very inconvenient and the traffic is horrible, not to mention the wait.
They have at-home test kits for INR, but I can only find finger-prick models. My finger tips are extremely sensitive and I work with computers so I’m typing and taking things apart all day– having to prick my finger is simply not an option. I’d rather have them stick a big needle in my arm.
However, they do now have at-home diabetes test kits that let you draw the blood from your arm instead of finger, so I know it’s technologically feasible. But I can’t find any! Does ANYBODY know of an arm testing model??
Thanks!

Sorry, haven’t heard of any. Try checking the warfarin’s company web site.

Though home PT/INR monitoring devices are designed to work with minimal blood volume, you can actually extract blood from your arm if you want to, then apply it to the device. it should give you the same reading.
