i just recently got a one touch ultra test kit and i have noticed how expensive the test strips are. i noticed at alot of stores they sell generic strips- can these be used in any machine to test sugar???

I believe my 13 year old male cat may have diabetes. He shows a few symptoms, such as drinking and urinating A LOT. If anyone has a ball park figure for me that would be great. Need to know how much money I need to save/pull out of my butt. LOL

It has been demonstrated that strips are accurate up to 6 months. although companies who want you to purchase more of their strips will say they read high or low…the expiration date is simply the last day they can be sold…these Freestyle strips cost $115 for 100 and are less than one month out of expiration. I am trying to get them into the hands of people who need them. Kindly email me at rachroun@yahoo.com
I was talking about the price for new unexpired ones, not these! I did not know they could not be offered on YA…I read the complete rules and did not see anything about that.

Anyone familiar with Alabama Medicare?

I am filing for disability but need insurance immediately my medicine I desperately need for diabetes and high blood pressure is out. I don’t qualify for Medicaid but cant afford regular insurance I have to take insulin every day it’s a matter of life and death. All my doctor told me was to find another doctor because I owe him over $400 and he cant give me free insulin or testing supplies anymore.

Diabetes is a disease that affects all ages, races, and cultural groups of people and left undiagnosed and untreated can lead to a wide range of life threatening complications that can include heart disease, kidney failure, nerve damage, and vision problems. Unfortunately there is no cure for diabetes, but the disease can be managed and the impetus of treatment falls on the diabetic to make the necessary lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as keeping the necessary diabetic medical supplies on hand.

One of the most important parts of any diabetics testing supplies is the blood glucose monitor. Without the ability to self monitor blood glucose levels during the day it would be almost impossible to manage this disease. Most diabetics test their blood sugar levels from 3 to 7 times a day making restocking their supplies a very important part of their disease management.

In August of 2007 (11 months ago) I purchased test strips for my One Touch glucometer. I called my insurance company to ask what they needed me to send in. I sent it. No reimbursement. I called again and they said I needed a special form. Again, I sent it in and no reimbursement. Then I was told the address was wrong. Now they are saying they have no record of my filing the claim (although they did before). I think they are trying to get me to give up. I cannot afford strips out of pocket and this is what I am paying insurance premiums for to begin with. They are supposed to cover diabetes supplies. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I go the Better Business Bureau? Should I consult a lawyer? My hemoglobin A1c keeps getting worse because I have not been able to purchase test strips without reimbursement. I feel like I have a valid lawsuit, but I am only one person going against a big corporation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
