HELP! Mendelian Genetics?

I do not get this at all can someone please explain it to me please?
I’m not asking anyone to do the questions just how to do each one, I missed the lesson that day.

Thank you:)

Medel’s law of dominance and segration are to be used
1.A
In the summer squash, white fruit colour is dominant; yellow is recessive. If a squash plant is homozygous for white is crossed with a homozygous yellow, predict the appearance of the F1 generation and the F2 generation.

1.B
If an F1 is crossed with a homozygous white indicate the possible offspring

I was diagnosed late July 09 with Type 2 Diabetes due to complications with my gallbladder. I have been out of my diabetic testing supplies for a month now because my insurance only allows 102 test strips for 3 months. I have been fighting with my doctor to fill out a diabetes extension form since i was diagnosed. She thinks I should be testing..once upon waking, before and after 6 very small meals and before bed for at least the first year so she can get my meds in check…but after a month of waiting for an override i ask her about it and she says, “People in other countries dont test at all.” And 2 months later after going to my dr, the mangier of the office, dshs, head of dshs, and to the rep of Washington…still the form hasnt been turned in. Severial forms have been sent…even dshs walked them through the steps of doing so….and still nothing. I need to test my blood sugar…i am scared to eating because i cannot test my sugar. There are no free clinics in Washington state with the exception of Seattle which costs $50 to travel to from where i live at.(if i had $50 i would just buy the strips) Right now i am wanting to find out how i can get more strips. I talked to my Pharmacy and my insurance blocked any other way to get them even the ER or urgent care prescriptions so that a person still only gets 102 strips every 3 months.

I would put back some cash each month but my family would have to go with out food for the month(rock/ME/hard place)

There is a terrible lack of bracelets and necklaces for diabetics and the charms I’ve seen are quite expensive. I’m looking for charms and bars for kids, women, teens and yes, men too. If anyone out there knows of someone who supplies these, please let me know. Thanks.
Pam

Help With My Pro Animal Testing Essay?

Animal Testing Rough Draft
Someday in the near future there may be a way to alter animal’s DNA genetically, and use it to trick the human body’s immune system into thinking that that organ is its own. In doing so scientists could help save millions of lives. However, none of this will ever be possible without the use of animal testing (American 61). The sacrifice that animals must make has given us many great rewards in which saving many human lives. Also, the use of animal experimentation helps further medical research and improves our medications. While some extremists may say all animal testing is cruel, most is not. On that note, many extremists try and argue that there are other ways to test animals, computer analysis and studying tissue samples; however, none of these come close to physically doing the real surgery or bone transplant. Animal testing is not only essential for medical research, but also helps save human lives, and there is no other reasonable solution for this method.
The testing of animals is the only sure way that we can continue our production of safe medicines. Without animal testing scientists can not be positive that all medicines on the market are safe and reliable. The medical scientists believe that animal testing is essential to drug and vaccine research. The testing of animals has allowed them to make a great progression in the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS (Corey n.pag.). For example, without the testing of animals many more would die due to AIDS and HIV. That little sacrifice that those animals make will, in the future, help save many more human lives. Many other improvements that have been made due to animal testing have been insulin for diabetes; organ, corneal, and bone marrow transplants; antibiotics for pneumonia; surgery for heart diseases; and the development of nonaddictive painkillers (Experimentation n.pag.). In conclusion, the testing of animals helps further our medical development in human saving illnesses.
The reason scientists test animals is not to harm them or kill them; however, it is to help save the lives of humans. Scientists may not instantly cure humans, or even be close to finding a cure for cancer; however, they have been trying, and none of this could have been done without the testing of animals. Lawrence Corey states that over the years there have been many significant changes with the way animal testing is done. The cancer-causing potential of drugs is now tested in bacteria developed for this purpose, then in mice or rats. And most all testing of animals in cosmetics has stopped (Corey n.pag.). In saying this, animal testing is not the same as it was twenty years back. Scientists and medical researchers do not willingly harm animals for pleasure; they do it in order to cure deathly diseases. Corey also explains that, “Animal experimentation is needed to prevent harm to humans from new medicines and vaccines. Without animal testing, human lives would be jeopardized.” (n.pag.). The lives of the human race would be in great risk if we did not do all our testing on animals first. We would not know what would happen to humans if we first tested it on an inorganic object. Finally, the testing of animals helps save many human lives each year, and without it many more humans would die than already do.
Other than animal testing, there is no other reasonable solution to get the results we need. Some may say that we could test it on computers or try it out on bacteria samples; however, these results are not always accurate and may lead to some deadly consequences. A medical researcher concludes that, “You can’t train a heart surgeon on a computer, and to study a brain, you need a brain; a man-made machine is no substitute.” (Animal n.pag) Without physically doing a certain procedure scientists will never be able to tell if the results are correct. If a surgeon was to try a new transplant that has never been done before and he had never experienced it before in real life, nobody could know what the results would be. The outcome could be horrendous or could be wonderful; nevertheless, without actually doing an experiment on an animal first you could never get actual results. According to many researchers the testing of animals is a critical asset to the development of medical research. Tissue samples and computer simulations may give some results. However, they may not always be accurate and can not show the side-affects it could have on organisms. (Cohen n.pag) In finality, there may be other ways to get the conclusions that we need; however none of them provide the same results if we were to test them on animals first.
The testing of animals further our medical knowledge, helps save human lives, and there is no other way to get the actual results that we need. Animal testing helps us get a better understanding of the medicine that we use. It may not give us the instant results and cures that all humans want; nonetheless, it does save human lives in the end. Finally, there is no other way to get the results that we need and make sure that they are fully accurate. The testing of animals does not even compare to the cruel, abusive, pet owners; the pets kept in zoos and circuses; or even the helpless animals that are abandoned with no one to love them.
that’s what i have so far. i need peoples input. and if you have any additional information that would be good tell me please…also list the source with it.
THANKS
