Hi, im 13 years old and its been brought up to me that i may have diabetes. I want to know some of the symptoms so i wont look stupid going to the doctors if i dont have any of the correct symptoms?

basically at the moment i have -
-a numbness or tingling in my feet and sometimes my hands
-im feeling more hungry and drink a lot more
-i have a blurred vision, but i do wear glasses sometimes so it may have something to do with this, but i have more blurred vision than usual

Question by ❤She’s An Angel❤: 3 hour testing for diabetes? Please help I am so scared?
So my doc just called me and told me that I didn’t pass my 1 hour test so he told me that I need to come back in and do the 3 hour test. What does this mean. I am really scared. How is it going to effect the birth of our little girl. This is our first child and we are both scared. What will they be doing. I have to go in tomorrow morning. Please help and please no rude comments.

cholesterol. After giving blood, i felt horrible. Felt like i was going to poass out and broke out into massive sweat. Needed to lay down for a bit. Is this normal? Do i have diabetes? Any input is appreciated.

Im 14 and I have been showing the symptoms of having diabetes, so my mother is going to take me to get tested this weekend, and I just want to know what are the procedures for a diabetes test?

for about 4 months now i’ve had a period for 22 days then i’m off for a week or so then i get it again for about the same length of time. pap came back normal, blood test showed no diabetes, no thyroid problem, not anemic (although i’ve been taking an iron supplement because i’ve been so tired) and only one hormone was elevated. the period i’m having is like day one of your period times six, it’s heavy, it’s full of clots and it’s like that the entire 22 days.

i’m 27 years old. the doctor put me on a pill called depo something for 10 days, i spotted on it for 5, then at the end i got my period the next day and she started me on birth control.

I need to know the most accurate blood glucose meter…I have true track and according to my doctor…?
Okay, I went for my gestational diabetes test last week and brought along my own meter. True track. :/
well, an hour after drinking 50 grams of sugar according to my METER it said i was at 158…yikes..its supposed to be 140 or less. Okay…I accepted the fact that I might have gestational diabetes.

Then the doctor calls me about an unrelated issue I’ve had in my pregnancy and I ask her what my results were…(assuming that she was going to have me come in for my 3 hour test…She said i was LOW normal..at a 97!
97? Really?
Either my meter is WAY WAY off or there was a mistake…(the guy who did the blood draw was BRAND NEW, said it was his first day…) so it really in my un professional opinion could go either way. Either he messed up or my meter is TRASH.
I wanted to know if there are any RELIABLE sites that might have information on which meter is most accurate (.org .gov .edu) anything. Personal experience is also helpful. I HAD a contour a while ago, but it got lost in the move to our new place…From what I experienced with that meter it was pretty right on with what I was feeling, so I had no problem trusting it.

I feel the need to share my story with others whenever I can because it can save a life!

My son started acting strange on the day of his 2nd birthday. Just overnight he went from a very happy and energetic child to screaming and hitting you if you tried to touch him. He didn’t want to eat, all he wanted to do was drink milk which he asked for every 10 minutes. He was peeing to bed every single night, sometimes twice in one night. He was losing weight and his arms looked like toothpicks. Some days he would be energetic and other days not so much. We figured he was losing weight because he wasn’t eating, he was drinking excessively because he wouldn’t eat and was hungry, and he was peeing to bed because he was drinking too much. We ended up taking him to his pediatritian TWICE and he just brushed off my son’s symptoms, saying there was nothing wrong with him. He was just a two year old acting up. We believed our doctor, although there was this feeling in my heart that something wasn’t right but I pushed it to the back of my mind. A doctor knows what he is talking about, right? I was on yahoo answers frantically searching for any one who had went through this with their child.

A couple nights later my son started vomiting. He looked like he had a severe case of the flu. He was pale. After puking a couple of times, he seemed like he felt better so me and my husband put him to bed fully intending to take him back to the doctor the next day and demand answers.
